  1. Terraria: Otherworld has been cancelled. You can find additional information on the decision here: https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/this-is-the-end-otherworld-development-cancelled.68594/page-2 Last year, we announced a partnership between Pipeworks and Re-Logic, a studio most famous for creating the wildly popular, creative sandbox game Terraria. That may have been the most important announcement in Pipeworks' history, but today's news might eclipse even that: Impressed by our work on Terraria, Re-Logic has chosen Pipeworks to develop Terraria: Otherworld! "After taking a good hard look at everything, we feel that a new and fresh start/direction is the only way Otherworld will ever reach its full potential at this point," writes Re-Logic's Head of Business Strategy, Ted "Loki" Murphy. "So, where does TOW head from here? The great news is that we already have a dedicated and passionate team ready to pick up the torch and continue the Otherworld journey! Based upon their really impressive work to-date with the Terraria re-write on Console/Mobile, coupled with an amazingly on-point proposal for completing Otherworld (after a thorough review of the game on their end), we have made the decision to bring Pipeworks on board as our new development partner for Terraria: Otherworld!" While we can't say much about the game just yet, you can find more info on this announcement on the Terraria Community Forums.
  2. Meet the Team is a regular feature in which we interview members of the Pipeworks team working on Prominence Poker to give you a brief introduction to the people working behind the scenes to maintain and improve your favorite poker game. Today, our subject is Mike Kruse, Senior Producer. Can you give us your name and title? My name is Mike Kruse and I am a Senior Producer. Been here at Pipeworks for six years now. Where are you from, and how long have you been working in games? I am originally from the Bay Area in California. I started working in games in the early 90’s as a tester at the original Atari Games. Yup, that’s a long-@$$ time ago! I even have credits on some 8-bit console games, so you know I have seen a lot. What have you worked on in the past that people might know? I have worked on a wide variety of games in many different roles, but I will just list projects that I have either worked on in QA or as a Producer: Prominence Poker, World Series of Poker: Full House Pro, The Sims 2 Console, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing, Primal Rage, Dr. Muto, and R.B.I. Baseball 4, to name a few. Can you tell us what you do on the Prominence Poker team? My role is to organize and track progress of the team against budget and schedule, and to ensure a timely, high-quality delivery at each milestone – and anything else that needs to get done! I am the administrator, and the interface between everything and the team. Sounds important, right? What makes you passionate about working on Prominence Poker? I have a very talented team. We are doing big things with very few people, and there is a level of passion about this Pipeworks-born game that keeps us motivated. What would you like to tell players about the future of Prominence Poker? I would like to tell them that we have only just begun! There are so many features and directions we can go with this game that the sky is the limit. We want to know what our users want to see!
  3. We are absolutely flattered to have been awarded "Best Card & Board Game" of 2016 by the TrueAchievements community! Instead of simply patting ourselves on the back though, we'd like to thank all of you for making this possible. We've said from day one that Prominence Poker is a collaboration between our developers and our players, and without your honesty, insightful feedback, and attention to detail, our game wouldn't be nearly as good as it is today. That said, our best days are still ahead of us. Prominence Poker is a growing, ever-evolving game, and if you like what you've seen so far, we encourage you to stay tuned. We've got big plans for the future, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts as we continue to build the best poker game available! https://www.trueachievements.com/n26158/the-trueachievements-game-of-the-year-2016
  4. PlayStation 4 owners hoping for an authentic, engrossing, and most importantly, fun poker experience will be happy to hear that Prominence Poker is now available on PlayStation 4 in the US for the low, low price of “absolutely free to play.” Don't worry, European players, Prominence Poker will come available in your region within the next 24 hours. Prominence Poker invites would-be card sharps to the city of Prominence to seek their fame and fortune in high stakes poker games amidst the sort of crooked folks who populate a city built on fat chip stacks, luck, and human greed. Only by defeating the cunning, cutthroat factions of Prominence can players earn the opportunity to go up against “The Mayor” – the mysterious town founder, who controls both the city’s bankroll and its intimidating muscle. Thanks to the input of four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Max Pescatori, Prominence Poker offers PlayStation 4 players the most legitimate poker gameplay available on the console. Boasting gorgeously seedy locations, intricate character customization, and unprecedented, high-stakes poker action, Prominence Poker provides unparalleled immersion, whether you’re playing against computer-controlled players in singleplayer, or placing bets against other people in Prominence Poker’s competitive online multiplayer modes. 5. We’re extremely proud to reveal that Pipeworks is now the developer behind the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the wildly successful creative sandbox known as Terraria! As tremendous, long-time fans of the game, we couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity to work alongside Re-Logic to bring the magic of Terraria to consoles. For now, our main focus is updating the Terraria code base, to ensure that Terraria is running as smoothly as it possibly can for everyone, regardless of which console they prefer. Once our updates are in place, we’ll be able to solve technical problems more efficiently, deploy new content more rapidly, and we can start to implement some of our bigger, long-term plans for the game. For more info and to stay on top of our updates, follow Terraria on Twitter @terraria_logic, Re-Logic @relogicgames, and Pipeworks Studio @pipeworks.
  6. After months of wildly successful beta tests and hilarious live streams starring a laundry list of fan-favorite Twitch personalities, Pipeworks Studio and 505 Games are proud to announce that SUPERFIGHT is now available on Steam! Based on the hit card game of ludicrous arguments created by Darin Ross, SUPERFIGHT offers word warriors and master debaters the chance to match wits with opponents from all over the world. Using cutting-edge streaming technology, SUPERFIGHT offers real-time voice and video chat for up to four players, while allowing games to be broadcast via Twitch with no additional programs or devices. More than just entertaining stream fodder, SUPERFIGHT thrives on audience participation. While watching the stream, viewers can determine a winner by voting for the best, most hilarious, most creative argument. Along with the satisfaction of supporting the finest orators on the internet, each vote earns experience points which are automatically applied to a voter’s SUPERFIGHT account, whether they own the game or not. Planning to buy SUPERFIGHT down the road? Get in there and vote, and you’ll automatically unlock a host of cards the moment you create your account. At launch, each copy of SUPERFIGHT will include the 400-card Core Deck, alongside the Purple and Blue Decks, which add an additional 100 locations and 100 scenarios to the myriad combinations present in the base game. Those looking to expand SUPERFIGHT even further, will see five additional DLC decks available for purchase at launch, including the geek culture-themed Orange Deck, the risque Red Deck, the Digital Deck – which is exclusive to the Steam version of SUPERFIGHT -- the Twitch-centric Mindcrack Deck, and The Walking Dead Deck, which should be immediately familiar to fans of Robert Kirkman’s hit comic book series and its wildly successful TV adaptation. SUPERFIGHT officially debuts on July 21 at a price of $9.99, but we’re celebrating the launch by slashing 10 percent off the purchase price for one week. Purchase SUPERFIGHT by July 27, and the game’s only $8.99. For more information on SUPERFIGHT, visit the game’s official website at superfightlive.com and add SUPERFIGHT to your Steam Wishlist. For up-to-the-minute news and updates on all things SUPERFIGHT, follow us on Twitter @superfightlive and @pipeworksstudio
  7. Though it ends tonight at 11PM Pacific, our second SUPERFIGHT closed beta has been a massive success. Players keep telling us how much they’re enjoying the game, and asking when we’re going to hold another beta test. Well, you asked for it, so we’re giving it to you. We’re kicking off a third SUPERFIGHT closed beta, starting on July 1 at 9AM PDT, and ending on July 4 at 11PM PDT. Don’t worry, everyone who has enjoyed SUPERFIGHT during our first two betas will automatically have a spot in the third beta. Fire up the game during the third beta period just as you have been doing, and you're in. If you have yet to try SUPERFIGHT, this third beta is another excellent chance to see why so many streamers are falling in love with our game. Simply visit superfightlive.com, and click the “Sign Up For Closed Beta” button. An email will be sent before the start of the next beta on July 1.
  8. Looking for a spot in the second SUPERFIGHT closed beta? Want to pick up some free DLC AND help out a good cause in the process? The latest Humble Bundle has you covered. Alongside a host of other great games and soundtracks -- "$366 worth of awesome stuff," as the website puts it -- available at the usual pay-what-you-want price, the new Humble Bundle offers access to the second SUPERFIGHT closed beta (scheduled for June 23 through June 27) and the free "Linker" micro deck DLC. As always, proceeds from this Humble Bundle will go toward charity, in this case the ESA Foundation, a philanthropic effort organized by the Entertainment Software Association that works to provide "scholarships to the next generation of industry innovators and support charitable organizations and schools that leverage entertainment software and technology to create meaningful opportunities for America’s youth." You can find more info and purchase the Bundle at the Humble Bundle website: http://bit.ly/HBE3DigitalTicket16
  9. If you’re creating a game about cars, you talk to a race driver. If you’re creating a game about the military, you talk to a soldier. And if you’re creating a game about poker, like we are, you consult poker legend Max Pescatori for the kind of insight that a person can only earn by playing cards at the highest level against the world’s best competition for more than a decade. If you’re somehow unfamiliar with the name, Max Pescatori is a longtime poker pro hailing from Milan, Italy. Since he started playing professionally in 2003, Max has racked up 15 titles, four World Series of Poker bracelets, and over $3.7 million in winnings. Needless to say, Max knows a thing or two about playing poker, and his first-hand expertise has been tremendously helpful in refining the pace of our game. His knowledge of player psychology and practical poker strategies are a key reason why Prominence Poker is so compelling. “Prominence Poker is highly stylized with a compelling storyline, so it’s an honor to contribute to a poker game that values the strategy, depth and complexities of Texas Hold ‘em,” stated Pescatori. "Given Pipeworks' proven track record with poker mechanics in World Series of Poker: Full House Pro, it’s been great to offer my experience to help them bring the table experience to life in Prominence Poker." As a special "thank you" for all of his help, we've immortalized Max Pescatori within Prominence. Not a bad likeness, huh?
  10. If you’ve spent the past few months watching our weekly SUPERFIGHT streams, wondering when you’d get a chance to debate the merits of infinite sausage lassos and drunken former Presidents with friends for the amusement of internet strangers, today’s your lucky day! This morning, SUPERFIGHT, the digital version of Skybound’s hit card game of absurd arguments, entered closed beta testing. While the game is not yet widely available, anyone interested in trying SUPERFIGHT early (and helping us to squash any remaining bugs) can sign up for a free key by visiting superfightlive.com. Just click the black box on the right that reads, “Sign Up For Closed Beta,” then keep an eye on your inbox. Still on the fence? Not sure if you want to try SUPERFIGHT? Wondering how a game about loud, unruly arguments could possibly be fun? Take a look at this awesome stream we recorded just yesterday with special guest streamer Wootystyle.
  11. After streaming the digital version of SUPERFIGHT alongside some of the biggest names on Twitch – archival footage can be found here, but the language is occasionally NSFW for anyone but game developers and longshoremen – we’re finally ready to open it up to the general public! We plan to host two closed beta tests in June, first from June 2 to June 6 and then again from June 23 to June 27. Using the player feedback generated by these tests, we’ll add a final coat of polish to SUPERFIGHT before it makes its official Steam debut on July 21. Earning a spot in the SUPERFIGHT beta is simple. Just pay a visit to SUPERFIGHTLive.com, sign up for the newsletter, then keep an eye out for your beta key. We’re also including a special bonus for beta testers: Everyone who helps us test SUPERFIGHT will receive an exclusive DLC deck of SUPERFIGHT cards at launch. While you wait for the beta test to start, be sure to tune in to our SUPERFIGHT streams every Wednesday and Friday at 2PM PDT. It’s a good chance to see how the game works, and to watch our developers and frequent special guests make fools of themselves for your entertainment.
  12. Now that you've had some time to dig into the Prominence Poker closed beta test, we're calling you out. We're inviting everyone currently enrolled in the Prominence Poker closed beta to join us on Saturday for a live multiplayer play test. Not only is this a prime opportunity for some top notch multiplayer poker, it's also your chance to let us know what you think of the game so far -- and, if you're lucky, you might walk away with a few thousand of our chips. The play test starts at 12PM Pacific time, and will run for at least a few hours. To find a game, just click 'Play!' on the main menu, select 'Casual Games,' then make sure the next screen looks like the below screenshot. For the best results, set your 'Buy In' to either 100 or 1,000 chips.
  13. Tomorrow, April 1, marks the launch of the highly-anticipated 1.0.85 update for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Gems of War! Along with the balance tweaks and bug fixes you expect, the patch adds a number of gameplay features from the most recent PC and Mobile versions of Gems of War. For more, you can find a full rundown of everything included in 1.0.85 on the official Gems of War forums: http://community.gemsofwar.com/t/patch-notes-for-aprils-1-0-85-update-ps4-xbox-one/5027 And don't worry about the date. This is not an April Fool's joke. We wouldn't do that to you.
  14. Since 2011, Pipeworks has been renting space in a former department store in the heart of downtown Eugene, Oregon. As of last week, however, Pipeworks is entering a whole new era with the purchase of the entire building, tripling our size from 15,000 square feet to a massive 45,000 square feet. Why? To put it simply, we needed more space to create the kinds of games we want to create. From our new focus on developing original intellectual property to a partnership with our sister studio 505 Games and the innovative ventures of Pipeworks Labs, Pipeworks has been growing and evolving so rapidly that we were in danger of outgrowing our current space. By investing in the building we ensure that not only will we have enough room for everyone here in the studio moving forward, but that we also have sufficient space to accommodate the exciting plans we have for the future. We can’t give away anything just yet, but stay tuned. We’ve got a couple of major announcements coming in the next few months that you’re not going to want to miss!
  15. Shortly after its foundation in 1999, Pipeworks Studio earned a reputation as a talented, reliable work-for-hire developer. For 16 years we created some of the industry’s biggest licensed hits, including 2002’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, and 2010’s Deadliest Warrior: The Game. As Oregon’s largest video game developer we are tremendously proud of our achievements to date, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about. We’re here to discuss the new Pipeworks. In late 2014, Pipeworks was acquired by Digital Bros. This marked a massive shift for our studio. For the first time in Pipeworks’ history, we have the freedom to focus primarily on creating games based on our own original concepts. We don’t want to give too much away just yet, but stay tuned over the coming months. We have a few big announcements slated for 2016 that you’re going to want to hear about. Of course, this new focus doesn’t mean we’re abandoning our past success. Beyond video games, Pipeworks has an extensive history as a developer of “serious games,” and we will continue to work with partners like MIT’s Lincoln Labs and the US Navy to create cutting-edge simulation software that saves time, money, and human lives. Equally at home creating party games aimed at streamers, radical AI simulations, or award-winning trainers for the military, our developers, artists, and designers include a talented mix of industry veterans and the brightest young minds, that drive our ideas from concept to completion. Pipeworks' greatest resource has always been its people, and the environment of creativity, passion, expertise, and limitless potential they create is the cornerstone of our success. We’re proud that over 20 million people have welcomed Pipeworks’ games into their homes. But we firmly believe our best days are ahead of us. Our new partnership with Digital Bros. will allow Pipeworks to create the kinds of amazing interactive experiences you expect, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.
